He died at the age of 25 of consumption, this anthology being published posthumously. 'The Culprit Fay' is Drake's best known poem, and is considered to be one of the best American poems ever written. The other poems in this anthology include 'Leon', 'Lines written in a Lady's Album', 'Lines on leaving New Rochelle', and the popular patriotic cantata 'The American Flag&apos.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and an engraved title.Label to the front paste down. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in a custom cloth chemise. Externally, a little worn, with some marks to the cloth. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Tear to the tail of the joints. Gilt is a little rubbed. Front hinge is tender. Label to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound.
